Conservative Blogs are More Effective
here
True. Throughout history, conservatives have had to create their own vehicles of communication -- from Lincoln wresting control from the Whigs to win as a new Republican, to Teddy's Bull Moose Party, from rescuing AM radio with talk format, to the current proliferation of blogging.
Conservatives simply don't have mainstream media - East Coast networks and Left Coast movie-makers - on our side.

Actually, the story says that what makes the right-wing blogs effective is this:
But what really makes conservatives effective is their pre-existing media infrastructure, composed of local and national talk-radio hosts like Rush Limbaugh, the Fox News Channel and sensationalist say-anything outlets like the Drudge Report - all of which are quick to pass on the latest tidbit from the blogosphere. "One blogger on the Republican side can have a real impact on a race because he can just plug right into the right-wing infrastructure that the Republicans have built," Stoller says.
Same is true in Milwaukee. It's not the blogs, it's the amplification on radio. And commercial radio, actually, is mainstream media.
Hopefully, we can help the cause in the Seventh District over at Obey Out.
Xoff and I agree on something. Conservative blogs in Wisconsin derive their power in two ways actually. 1, they are symbiotic with talk radio. Without talk radio to occasionally magnify their message, their power would be far more limited and 2, they are increasingly read by newspaper reporters, who sometimes pick up story ideas from them. #2 is true of liberal blogs as well, but #1 is true only of conservative blogs as far as I can tell. Blogs are powerful only in how they feed into the bloodstream of outlets that reach a much wider audience.
And I agree with both Jessica and Xoff
However, I'd say with the proliferation of blogs, they are becoming more like Christmas cards; read by so few and mostly mailed for the amusement of the sender.
